Combustion Synthesis
The principal merit of the developed technology is the fact that the combustion synthesis yields a sintered matrix of the desired shape (hollow cylinders or spheres, plates), pore structure, and phase and chemical composition, which could be used without any additional processing. To obtain the synthesized materials with desirable macroporous structure a special mode of propagation of the combustion wave was considered. The front of combustion wave here consists of many separate superadiabatic spots. There are special conditions for melting and coagulation of reactive powders inside the spots. Size of the spots and duration of its exposure defines the coarseness of porous structure of the synthesized materials.
